The Pacific Southwest is a region with diverse ecological landscapes, ranging from cool temperate forests to dry, hot deserts, making the region highly susceptible to invasive vectors, exotic pathogens such as dengue virus, and several endemic pathogens transmitted by mosquitoes and ticks.
